Virginia Opossum #16-0056 continued to do well outside in the Center’s mammal complex. During the next 12 days, he continued to eat and gain weight as well as ambulate well around his enclosure.
On February 28, the Center staff reassessed the opossum’s body condition and gait and deemed him ready for release. Later that evening, rehabilitation extern student Maggie transported Virginia Opossum #16-0056 back to his rescue location in Augusta County and released him back into the wild.
