On March 23, a private citizen in York County, Virginia, found a juvenile Tundra Swan in their yard. The swan was taken to a local emergency vet clinic, where a veterinarian examined the bird. The swan was thin and weak; radiographs showed seven or eight small metallic pieces in the swan’s ventriculus (stomach). The veterinarian suspected lead toxicity and conferred with the Wildlife Center. Transport to the Center was arranged and the swan arrived on March 24.
