Bald Eagle #15-2199 Update

On February 22, Bald Eagle #15-2199 was anesthetized for two-week post-antibiotic radiographs. Outwardly, the eagle was showing mild signs of improvement, but radiographs revealed a very different picture. There were severe arthritic changes in the bird’s left knee, likely either due to a spreading bone infection, or inflammation in the fractured leg. Dr. Dana and Dr. Helen palpated the eagle’s left knee and also found that the joint had severely decreased range of motion; the bird could only half-way extend the knee.
