We had a bad fire in town this week, Here is a post from the local rag about it.

STUARTS DRAFT —Crews put out a barn fire off Augusta Farms Road, a little over a mile north of Stuarts Draft High School, on Thursday.

Flames were visible throughout the structure, and traffic had to be rerouted around the area.
The fire was still burning at 9 a.m., over an hour after the first call. However, there was no injuries or loss of life reported.

“Everybody is OK,” Gayle Weaver said. “We’ve lost our hay supply for the winter, but we were able to get the animals out.”

She and her husband, Maynard, who own the place, had gotten to the gates in time — after detecting the fire — and let out 100 ewes, 100 lambs and two guard llamas.

Stuarts Draft Volunteer Fire Department Chief James Summy said the fire started with hay in the barn. Stuarts Draft Volunteer Fire Department, Riverheads Volunteer Fire Department, Augusta County Fire and Wilson Volunteer Fire all responded.
